James D. Crosby is a highly experienced business litigator and trial attorney with offices in San Diego, California. Mr. Crosby represents entities and individuals, both plaintiffs and defendants, in complex and general business, commercial, contract, intellectual property, unfair competition, securities, real property, and business tort litigation in state and federal courts. He has successfully represented clients throughout California as well as in New York, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Dakota. He has successfully tried numerous jury and non-jury cases, and represented clients in numerous JAMS, AAA and private arbitrations and mediations.

Mr. Crosby has been and remains a leader in professional organizations and the San Diego legal community, including the State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association, Bar Association of Northern San Diego County, University of San Diego School Alumni Association and several Inns of Court. Mr. Crosby currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the University of San Diego School of Law Alumni Association, a Commissioner on the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE Commission) of the State Bar and a Master of the Louis M Welsh Inn of Court. In 2000, Mr. Crosby served as the President of the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County. From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Crosby served as a member, Treasurer and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Crosby served on the Board of Directors of the Casa Cornelia Law Center, as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, and as a member and President of the San Diego County Law Library Board of Trustees. Mr. Crosby also chaired the Civil Litigation Sections of both the San Diego County Bar Association and the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County, and has served on numerous other committees of both professional organizations. Mr. Crosby regularly provides pro bono legal services, most recently providing pro bono representation to political asylum seekers in immigration proceedings.  Mr. Crosby is frequent contributor to the San Diego Lawyer, the monthly publication of the San Diego County Bar Association, and other legal publications.

A native Southern Californian, Mr. Crosby was born in Los Angeles, grew up in Santa Barbara and has lived in San Diego since 1974. He attended San Diego State University, receiving a B.S. degree in Marine Biology in 1978. Mr. Crosby attended the University of San Diego School of Law and received his law degree in 1983. Mr. Crosby and his wife, Jill, happily married for over 30 years, have three grown daughters. They reside in San Diego and enjoy sailing, water-skiing, the beach, music, concerts, dining out, cooking, art, books, and, most importantly, spending time when they can with their daughters.
